Using Grok Build with lite.computer

Grok Build is xAI's coding agent for the terminal. It reads and edits the files in the folder where you start it, so a project page or a report is as easy for it as code.

It suits developers. You sign in through your browser, or with an xAI API key. It is a different product from the Grok chat assistant at grok.com.

Set it up

Install Grok Build with the line below, then run grok in your Showspace folder and sign in through your browser.
In lite.computer, click the account button at the bottom of the sidebar (it reads Free trial until you buy), choose Agent Helper, and copy the Setup prompt. Paste it into Grok Build. It remembers where your Showspace is and tries to connect to lite.computer, then tells you whether the connection works now or only from your next conversation. It asks before each step and tells you when it needs your help. If you would rather Grok Build check first, ask it to read lite.computer/setup instead.
Keep lite.computer open on your Showspace. Start a new grok session and ask Use the lite.computer tool to list every page in my Showspace. It lists the pages in your folder.

Good to know

We use Grok Build with lite.computer ourselves.
Add the connection for your whole account, not for one project. Grok Build does not start a server that is set up inside a folder it has not been told to trust, so a project-only setting can look correct and still not load.
Run grok mcp doctor lite-computer to check the connection. It reports whether the app answered and how many commands it found.
Grok Build also reads MCP settings that Claude Code and Cursor keep in their usual files, so a connection you already made there may show up on its own.

Questions

Does Grok Build work with lite.computer?

Yes. Grok Build saves HTML pages into your Showspace, and lite.computer shows each one as it lands. Once it is connected to the app, it can open pages and arrange windows there as well.

Is Grok Build the same as Grok?

No. Grok, at grok.com and in the phone apps, is xAI's chat assistant. Grok Build is a separate coding agent that runs in a terminal on your Mac. A third product, Grok Bot, does its work on a cloud computer.
