Using TraeCode with lite.computer

Trae is ByteDance's family of AI tools. TraeCode is an AI code editor with an autonomous agent mode. TraeWork, built on the SOLO mode that began in TraeCode, is a workspace with Work, Code and Design modes for developers and non-developers alike.

TraeCode runs on Apple Silicon Macs and saves into the project folder you open. TraeWork comes as a desktop app, a web app and an iOS app, and its tasks can run on your computer or in the cloud.

Set it up

In lite.computer, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and open the Agent Helper. Copy the paragraph it gives you and add it to your global rules in ~/.trae/user_rules, so every project knows where your Showspace is.
In TraeCode, open Settings, then MCP, then Add, and choose Add Manually. Paste the config below.
Keep lite.computer open on your Showspace and ask Use the lite.computer tool to list every page in my Showspace. It lists the pages in your folder.

Paste into TraeCode

Good to know

The TRAE mobile app can send a task to your Mac, which saves the page into your Showspace. Keep your Mac on when you send page work from your phone.
TraeCode reads AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md and CLAUDE.local.md in a project once you turn them on under Settings, then Rules.
A project-level MCP file at .trae/mcp.json works too. Switch it on under Settings, then MCP.
We have not tested TraeCode with lite.computer ourselves. These instructions are based on research. Try saving one HTML page to your Showspace first. If a step needs correcting, email hello@lite.computer.

Questions

Does TraeCode work with lite.computer?

Yes. TraeCode on your Mac saves HTML pages into your Showspace, and lite.computer shows each one as it lands. With the MCP config pasted in, it can also open pages and arrange windows in the app.

What happened to TRAE SOLO?

Trae's documentation now presents TraeWork as the workspace built on the original SOLO mode of TraeCode, and the download page lists the code editor as TraeCode. For the app's commands, set things up in TraeCode.

Which plans does TraeCode offer?

A Free plan to start, and Lite, Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans that add more use.
